How "real time" is the combat in comparison? Is weapon modding still present, and has it been changed at all? So, naturally, hearing that parasite eve 2 makes some rather large changes to the fundamental feel of the gameplay and some mechanics, I have to wonder, is it considered "essential" if I enjoyed the first game so much? I've heard it became more heavy on the survival horror aspects and tropes, and even though I usually jump into games myself and come to my own conclusions before consulting others, I still would like to know some things before deciding, so I'll get to the point and ask some questions:

I haven't actually finished it yet, but I recently started playing the first parasite eve through my ps3 and holy wow I've been loving it to bits, it's like it hits every note just right with me in every department, but most especially the gameplay, I'm closing in on the end of the game and start to finish it's been nothing but fun, a boss here or there felt a bit bleh sure but I've absolutely loved the modding/tool stuff and the way the combat works with not quite being real time but also being active enough to be entertaining, not to mention the pure excitement I felt in creating the ultimate super-pistol, that was a major highlight for me.
